Sonmez holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Auckland and began his career with Immigration New Zealand as an Immigration Officer. In that role, he gained extensive experience interpreting and applying immigration instructions — seeing first-hand what a strong application looks like, and what causes one to fall short.

He went on to serve as an accredited member of Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds through a wide range of immigration matters. That combination — technical rigour and community-facing empathy — shapes how he practises today.

As the founder of Denden Immigration, Sonmez is committed to giving each client honest, tailored advice. He works under the supervision of senior adviser Yongtian Liu (Licence No. 201800375) in line with his provisional licence requirements.
